Veterinary Consultations

Veterinary consultations are available for all small animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and other pets. Simply make an appointment to come in and discuss your animal’s health with one of our friendly veterinarians. The vets at Bunbury Veterinary Clinic have many years’ combined experience and regularly attend educational seminars and courses to keep in touch with the latest developments.


After Hours Telephone System

Harradine & Associates

Emergency service can be obtained by phoning our normal number ( 08 97958080). The phone will initially be answered by our in-house answering system which will give two options – Press 1 for equine emergencies, or press 2 for small animal emergencies. Your call will then be diverted direct to the mobile phone of the veterinarian on call for the relevant option. The vet will normally answer the incoming call, but, if he/she is busy tending to a case the call may go to mobile message bank. Please leave a clear message stating at least your name and telephone number so we can call you back as soon as possible.

 

Bunbury Veterinary Clinic

Emergency service can be obtained by phoning our normal number ( 08 97215999). This will be diverted to the same system as for Harradine & Associates above with the same options given. Please note that the message will say ‘Harradine & Associates’ and the same veterinarians are on call for both hospitals.


Vaccinations

Small animal vaccinations are an important part of preventative medicine. Bunbury Veterinary Clinic offers that latest in vaccinations for all small animals from puppies and kittens to rabbits. A vaccination appointment includes a thorough health check and discussion of any concerns you may have with your pet.


Surgery including referral services

Routine sterilizations, lump removals, stitch-ups, uncomplicated fractures, knee reconstructions and other orthopaedic surgeries can be performed at our clinic. A full referral service is also offered for those complicated surgeries. The clinic has a dedicated surgical theatre with skilled nursing staff to assist the veterinarians. A pulse oximeter is used to monitor the heart rate and oxygen levels of all pets undergoing surgery. Further, only the safest  anaesthetic drugs and gases are used on our patients.


Laboratory testing - in house and external

Bunbury Veterinary Clinic offers a range of in-house and external laboratory procedures to help diagnose any medical problems from which your pet may suffer. The clinic can perform blood and urine tests, smears, swabs, tissue biopsies, fine need aspirates, and other procedures required for a diagnosis. Results are generally provided within 24-48 hours.


Radiology and ultrasound

A brand new radiology unit has recently been installed at the clinic allowing us to take fantastic x-rays of your pet. X-rays are used to help diagnose a range of physical problems including possible fractures, heart size, lungs, abdominal organs and so on. We have a state of the art ultrasound machine which can be used to help in the diagnosis of disease, and for pregnancy testing.


Dentistry

Dental disease is a common condition of most small animals, especially cats and dogs. Healthy teeth are vital to the overall health of any animal. Dental disease can lead to bad breath, loss of appetite, heart and kidney disease and other problems. The clinic has a full dental suite at our disposal, including a high and low speed scaler and polisher. We routinely do teeth extractions and other dental procedures if required.


Alternative therapies – Acupuncture, Bowen therapy, Bach and Bush flower essences, Chinese herbs.

Dr Felicity Harradine is an internationally accredited acupuncturist with many years experience. She is also trained in Bowen Therapy and in the use of Bach and Bush Flower Essences. Felicity is currently undergoing training in Chinese Herbal Therapy. Alternative therapies can be useful in the treatment of arthritis, any musculoskeletal problem, respiratory, reproductive, kidney, liver, bowel, skin, neurologic and behavioural problems.


Physiotherapy

Bunbury Veterinary Clinic offers a one hour physiotherapy session for those animals needing relief from orthopaedic and/or arthritic pain. At-home physiotherapy is also encouraged between visits. Physiotherapy is fast becoming an important adjunct or alternative therapy to more conventional treatments for painful conditions.


Weight management

Obesity is a leading cause of major health problems in our pets. Getting your pet to lose weight can be just about the hardest thing you can tackle in your pet’s life. We can help tailor an eating and exercise plan to ensure your pet meets and maintains its optimum weight. As a part of this program, we encourage free weekly weigh-ins and discussions with one of our friendly staff.


Microchipping

Micro-chipping your beloved pet is an important part of the identification process. A microchip is for life unlike a collar or other means of identification which can be removed or lost.  Microchipping can be done in a consultation or as part of a surgical procedure. 


Puppy preschool

Puppy preschool classes offer owners and puppies handy hints for basic discipline and the development of socialization skills. Puppy preschool is run by one our nurses every  4-6 weeks and a term lasts  4 weeks. We always recommend owners of new puppies to attend these low cost classes and achieve lifelong benefits with a well socialized and disciplined pet.
